- You will not attempt to re-identify any participant.
- Data is for research purposes. Non-commercial use only unless separately licensed under CC BY 4.0.
- All academic publications using these datasets must cite the associated original paper.
- The dataset providers (ARAYA Inc.) accept no responsibility for any direct or indirect damages arising from use of the data.
- This project was conducted under ethics approval from the Shiba Palace Clinic Ethics Review Committee, in compliance with the Declaration of Helsinki.
Privacy Policy
ARAYA Inc. (hereinafter referred to as "the Company") is committed to the protection of personal information belonging to all individuals who visit this website. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from visitors to japaneeg.araya.org (hereinafter referred to as "this Website"), how we use it, and how we protect it.
Article 1 — Scope and Definitions
- This Privacy Policy applies to all individuals who visit this Website (japaneeg.araya.org), operated by ARAYA Inc. (hereinafter referred to as "users").

- This Website provides information about a large-scale EEG speech decoding research database as part of Japan's Moonshot R&D Program. The datasets themselves are distributed through OpenNeuro (openneuro.org), an independent platform operated by Stanford University, and are subject to OpenNeuro's own terms and privacy policy.

Provision of this information is voluntary. However, without it we may be unable to complete the Newsletter registration.

The Company uses the information collected through this Website for the following purposes:

- Analyzing and improving Website performance and user experience
- Responding to inquiries submitted via the contact form or email
- Providing information about the JapanEEG research database and related publications
- Guiding users to the dataset distribution platform (OpenNeuro) for data access

- Accepting and managing registrations for the ArKairos Newsletter
- Sending ArKairos-related updates and announcements to Newsletter registrants
- Handling requests from Newsletter registrants to unsubscribe, update, or delete their registration information

5-2. Outsourcing
The Company may entrust the handling of personal information, in whole or in part, to third-party service providers to the extent necessary for business purposes. This includes work related to the development and operation of this Website, access analytics, and the provision, operation, and storage of registration data for the ArKairos Newsletter registration form (including the use of external services such as Notion). The Company will exercise appropriate supervision over contractors to ensure the fulfillment of confidentiality obligations and the implementation of adequate security management measures.
As a result of the contractors' service delivery, personal information will be stored or processed on servers located outside Japan, including in the United States. By agreeing to this Privacy Policy, users acknowledge the personal information protection systems of such countries and consent to the storage of their data accordingly.
5-3. External Links — OpenNeuro
This Website contains links to OpenNeuro (openneuro.org), the platform through which the JapanEEG datasets are distributed. OpenNeuro is operated by Stanford University and is subject to its own terms of service and privacy policy. The Company assumes no responsibility for the content or privacy practices of external websites.
Users who access OpenNeuro or any other external platform linked from this Website do so under the terms and privacy policy of those respective platforms.
Article 6 — Retention Period
The Company will retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in Article 3, or as required by applicable law.
- Inquiry-related information (contact form submissions): Retained for 3 years from the date of the final response, after which it will be securely deleted.
- Access log data (including Google Analytics data): Retained in accordance with Google's data retention policies (default: 14 months).

The Company implements technical and organizational security management measures in accordance with its internal regulations. For details on the specific measures in place, please contact us at the address listed in Article 10, and we will respond without undue delay.
Article 8 — Rights of Individuals
In accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, users whose personal information is held by the Company have the right to request:

- Correction, addition, or deletion of inaccurate personal information
